How Do I Get My Teacher To Notice Me?
Dear Guidance Guy,
There's this teacher at my school who's really mean to everyone except for the popular people. She's the music teacher at my school and every time people gofor solos she only picks the popular people and never gives anyone a chance and half the popular people she picks can't sing! I don't know what I should do! She will even barely look at me!

Dear Confused,
It's definitely true that some teachers favor kids who are more popular and outgoing. Whether this is true in your case or not, you're feeling badly about it. And I bet your teacher would like to know that.
Ask to see her before or after class and tell her how you feel. Don't accuse her of favoring the other kids. Just tell her the things that are bothering you.
And be ready for whatever she says to you. In a class like chorus the teachers look for good singers. But they also look for kids with outgoing personalities, who are good at projecting themselves in front of a large group. She may tell you that's part of the problem. If that's the case, ask her for help in getting stronger in her class.
And in the meanwhile, think of the things you're good at. Popular is a funny term. It gets less important as you get older and people will see you for who you are, not for you hang out with. As I always say, just be the best YOU you can be - that's always good enough!
Your Pal,
The Guidance Guy
