Cutting
Dear Guidance Guy,
I have a guy friend who started cutting himself last year. Now he's become addicted to it and everyday I see a new cut. He told me to keep it a secret and I don't want him to keep doing it. But what if one day he cuts himself really badly and he dies? What should I do?
Signed,

Dear Girl,
Please treat this as if he were talking about suicide. Cutting has become a very "popular" thing in that a lot of troubled, unhappy kids are doing it. You're right: it is dangerous and needs to be taken very seriously. Let a counselor, his parents or another responsible adult know what's happening. He may be upset with you at first, but in the end he'll be glad you told. And you're right: it could save his life.
Thanks for your letter,
The Guidance Guy
