Invisible Guy

Dear Guidance Guy,

I seem to be invisible to everyone. I hate it sometimes, but like it other times. My younger brother is the attention able guy. He is disabled and I try to be nice to him. In school, however, I don't feel that others now my presence is known. I feel invisible. I seem to be an unattractive human being. I seem to have no fun with any of the people I see at school, when I'm outside of school and happen to see them. Am I just being self-centered, or do I have an argument here?

Dear M177-E2,

You're going through an identity crisis. It's a very normal part of growing up. The fact that you have a disabled brother makes it more difficult because he takes some attention that might have gone to you.

You are not an unattractive human being. You're very attractive. We all are. You just haven't found a way to make your attractiveness come out yet. Find something you like to do and do it. It would be cool if other people were involved, but the most important part is being happy. If you enjoy yourself, other people will show up. They always do.

You are being self-centered, but again, that's part of growing up. You're trying to figure out the world and your place in it, which is cool. Hang in there. Everything will fall into place.

Your Pal,
The Guidance Guy
