Horrible Friend
Dear Guidance Guy,
I was being a HORRIBLE friend. I made up a guy and said his name was Jake and then my friend said, "Well, tell Jake that me and him are going out." After a while she believed that and then I told her we broke up and now she always says "Let's go see Jake. I want to meet him, etc."
How can I tell her the truth without her hating me? She's my best friend and I regret doing that because she means so much to me and I don't want to lose her! Please tell me how I can fix this without ruining out friendship!!Needs help with friends because I'm horrible!!

The only thing you can do is tell her the truth - including whatever it was that made you want to make up that story. Were you trying to make her jealous? Or were you trying to impress her? Whatever it was, being completely honest is the only way out of this. How she feels about you after you tell the truth is out of your control.
It doesn't seem like you're horrible. It seems like you made a mistake. We all make them. Learn from it. Stop beating yourself up. The fact that you want to make things right is a good start. Do something nice for her... and for other people around you. This will help you with your friend, and all the others that will come along.
