8th Grade Graduation and a Special Guy
Dear Guidance Guy,
I really like this guy on my street and I have known him for a long time so I asked him to my grade 8 graduation. I told him we would be going as friends but I want us to go as more than friends. But he goes to another school than me. He said he would go with me as long as it wasn't on the same day as his. So I got my friend to ask him some questions and he answered maybe. So I don't know if he likes me that way but I do. So what should I do?

I've said this a thousand times and I'll say it once more - DO NOT have other people do your talking for you when it comes to relationships. I know it may be uncomfortable to ask someone how they feel about you. But anytime you bring a third person in, it makes things confused and crazy. Don't go there!
This is a one day graduation, right? I'm guessing you're going to be pretty busy that day, and won't have a lot of time to be with this guy. If you want him to be there for whatever reason, that's great. Putting a label on how you'll be going is going to put more pressure on both of you. He'll think he has to behave a certain way if he's there as more than friends, and you'll feel the same way. That kind of pressure takes all the fun out of it.
Don't worry about how what your relationship status. Go to the graduation and be happy he's there. And if he invites you to his, go and have a great time. If the two of you are right for each other, the romance will come at the right time - not on graduation day.
