Friends, or More?
Dear Guidance Guy,
I hang in a big group of friends, both girls and guys. There have been a couple times when I have asked my best guy friend Nathan (who I happen to like) out to a movie (not meant as a date) but he took it that way. So one of the times this happened, he called my best friend Katrina and asked her to come. Katrina, being the good friend and advice giver I know she is, said to Nathan, "she asked you to go, Nathan, not the three of us."
Anyway let me get to the point of this letter. Nathan never wants to go out with just me even when I mean it just as friends (and I make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that I mean it as only friends). Is he afraid to be seen with just me in public or is he just shy?
Can you help me?

Dear Baffled,
The only way you'll know the answer to this question is to ask Nathan directly. From what you wrote, there is no good way for me to know. If you like him enough to want to possibly date him, you will need to have that conversation sooner or later.
Good Luck,
The Guidance Guy
