The Boy of My Dreams
Dear Guidance Guy,
I like this boy in my 1st period class. I am in the 6th grade. I REALLY like him. He's sweet and funny and all that stuff. I wrote him a note saying that I liked him and I wanted to email him. I know I shouldn't have but I emailed him like a bazillion times.
Now I don't know if he wants to talk to me anymore. Why hasn't he emailed me back? I tell him everyday to check his email. Does he really do it? Do you think he thinks I am a stalker? I don't want him to think that. I didn't tell him who I was until just today. He acted VERY happy. He also looks at me in class. With these cute little eyes! Is it because he likes me? Or does he just think I am crazy but likes that I like him. Should I talk to him alone in private or will everyone else think that we're making out? It's the only way that I can be able to get through to him!
I need help. I want him to ask me out. But then again should I do it? I have a feeling he'll say yes. But what if he thinks I am just desperate? I am soooo not desperate. I just really like him.
Signed,
Hope He Likes Me!

Dear Hope,
If I was this boy I'd be very nervous. He's in sixth grade and is getting a LOT of attention from a girl - maybe the first time this has ever happened to him. I'm sure he doesn't know how to handle it and is just doing what seems to be easiest right now, which is smile at you and not much else. You're emailing him excessively, so don't be suprised if he's already blocked emails from you.
I don't think you're a stalker because you don't have any plans to hurt him or think about constantly (at least I don't think you do). But you have taken this way too far. While you may not be a stalker, my guess is that this boy is flattered by your attention but is very uncomfortable with it at the same time.
Let me tell you a secret. Everyone - boys and girls - wants to pursue and be pursued. You're going after him but not letting him chase after you at all. Figure out how to hang back a little and let the boys come to you. As you get older (and the boys get more mature) it will be easier to do this. But very few guys will be interested in a girl who does all the chasing!
I don't think this boy is ready for your attention. But plenty of others will be when the time is right!
All The Best,
The Guidance Guy
