Protect This Girl!
Dear Guidance Guy,
I went to the movies over the weekend and this guy who runs the projector told me he was making a movie. He asked me if I wanted to be in it. He told me I should go into the projection room with him, but I felt really weird. He told me there would be nude scenes, but because I wasn't 17 yet it would be blocked out (I'm only 14). He also told me I shouldn't tell my parents about this.
I know this sounds really weird. Do you think he's telling the truth? And do you think I should tell my parents?
Thanks,
Confused Girl

Dear Confused,
The thing I want for you more than anything else is to trust your instincts. Of course this is a bad situation. This guy is trying to take advantage of a young girl who doesn't understand how the world works yet.
Let's pretend for a second this "gentleman" was making a real movie. He would put out a casting call and tell you exactly what kind of movie he was doing. He wouldn't be trolling around the movie theater looking for young girls. He would never tell you not to tell your parents. If it were a real movie you would discuss what kind of movie, how it's being distributed, what your payment is, what the royalites are, etc. No doubt these are things you didn't talk about.
If you had gone with this person and made this "movie," the best you could hope for is that you would have been exposed on the Internet - all around the world - without anything being blocked out. Worst case: you would be attacked, sexually assaulted and possibly killed. Sorry to be so harsh, but it's important you understand you how serious this is.
Anytime someone tells you not to tell your parents about something, you should know right away they have something bad planned. You already know this, or you wouldn't be writing to ask about it. Too many young people get hurt by slimeballs who take advantage of them.
You need to tell your parents what happened. The police and the theater he works at need to know as well. I guarantee you are not the first person this guy approached...and unless you stop it, you won't be the last.
All The Best,
The Guidance Guy
