Dear Guidance Guy,

I like this boy around school. We even have a class together. I know he noticesme but how can I get the courage to walk up to him and say something? Or what ifhe walks up to me? What should I say? Please help me.

Dear Desperate,

I'm guessing you're on the younger side. This is one of those scary, beautiful things we all go through as we grow up. Don't worry...in the near future you will find the self-confidence to talk with him without going into a panic.

For now, don't try to start a forced conversation. Is there something you can ask him about the class you're in together? This would be a great conversation starter. Or you can ask him an easy question you already know the answer to. Whatever you decide to talk with him about - SMILE. Most of our communication isn't in what we say, it's in how we say it. A smile on your face will tell him more than any words you use.

One more thing...I bet he's just as nervous as you are! He's probably trying to think of the right thing to say to you. How great will it be when you talk to each other about how nervous you were when you first met!
