Dear Guidance Guy,

There is a man at school that I really like. The only problem is that
he is married and he is a teacher. I know that I shouldn't like him in the way I
do, but I can't help it. My parents have always told me to tell people when
there is an unresolved issue but there is no way that I can tell him this. It
would completely destroy both of us. This has been killing me though, I can't
tell any of my family or friends because I know what they would say. Not that
you would be able to help that much, I just need some advice.

I don't think you have any need to tell this man how you feel because this is not an unresolved issue between the two of you...this is YOUR unresolved issue.

I do agree with you that it is an uncomfortable situation, and maybe I can help you here. You said in your letter that you like him. You didn't say you LOVE him. There is a huge difference between the two. If this is a case of "like" I promise it will pass. He's probably a nice guy who treats kids well...these are the teachers who kids get crushes on.

And there's nothing wrong with liking a teacher. They are human beings too. So long as you don't act on it, enjoy the nice feelings. And DON'T tell your friends! I'm sure they're great people but something like this is very hard to keep to only one person knowing.
