Cover Up and Make Up
Dear Guidance Guy,
I've been wearing cover up behind my mom's back and i know she hates me wearing it. But I don't want to go to school with red zits on my face (and yes, I wash my face but i have bad acne). I'm scared she will find out and yell and scream. How do I tell her about it? And how do I tell her that I would like to be able to wear the make up I want to wear, which isn't a lot. She gets angry over small things so it's hard to talk to her.
Wants Cover Up
*****
Dear Wants,
You don't say how old you are, but I'm guessing middle school. It's a tricky issue, since many parents think of make up and cover up and picture their daughter growing up.
If you're going to continue to wear the cover up, I suggest you tell her. She'll find out soon enough anyway. If she finds out without you telling her first, she'll hit the roof. Then you will have a hard time getting your hands on cover up or make up for a long time.
One other suggestion: use a high quality cleanser on your face. Then use a toner to close the pores. Then use a moisturizer. This will keep your face in the best possible condition. There are lots of different types, for dry skin, oily or normal.
Good Luck,
The Guidance Guy
